Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, located in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, is a completely thematized area that transports visitors to the planet Batuu, an unprecedented place in the saga, but faithfully follows the universe created by George Lucas.

History and construction of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Disney officially announced the creation of a Star Wars theme area in 2015. Shortly thereafter, in April 2016, the works began. Over more than three years, the construction has developed, requiring an estimated investment in $1 billion. The result, finally, was an area of 56,000 m2, full of impressive details.

The grand opening took place on the day 29 August 2019, at Walt Disney World in Florida (the version of Disneyland in California opened a few months earlier, in May of the same year). Since then, Galaxy’s Edge has enchanted visitors of all ages with its ultra-realistic setting and interactive experiences.

The main attractions of the area

1. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run

This attraction allows visitors to enter the famous Millennium Falcon and assume different functions on board: pilot, gunner or engineer. Thus, the performance of the team influences the experience, making each flight unique. That is, the better you and your team perform your duties, the better your mission!

2. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

One of Disney's most innovative attractions, Rise of the Resistance puts visitors in the middle of a conflict between the Resistance and the First Order. Therefore, with a combination of special effects, animatronics and autonomous movement vehiclesThe attraction is one of the most sought after in the park!

Galactic Gastronomy of Star Wars Galaxy's Edge

1. Oga’s Cantina

Inspired by Star Wars iconic bars, Oga’s Cantina serves theme drinks, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. Among the highlights are the Fuzzy Tauntaun (a cocktail that leaves the mouth slightly numb), as well as the famous Blue Milk and Green Milk!

2. Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo

Here you will find dishes inspired by the Star Wars universe, such as the Felucian Garden Spread, a vegetarian dish based on vegetable protein meatballs.

3. Kat Saka’s Kettle

If you like different popcorn, then try the Outpost Mix, a sweet and salty mixture with exotic flavors.

1. Savi’s Workshop – Build your Light Sabre

One of the most exciting moments for any saga fan is undoubtedly the chance to build his own lightsaber. The experience is paid separately, but allows you to choose the design and Kyber crystal that will color the blade.

2. Droid Depot – Mount your own droid

In this interactive shop, visitors can assemble their own droid, choosing between BB-Series or R-Series models.

1 - The cast members have their own dialect! I mean, instead of saying “Good morning”, they say Bright Suns, and for “Good night”, they say Rising Moons.

2 - The Millennium Falcon is 30 meters long, being the largest replica ever built on this iconic ship.

3 - Stormtroopers patrol Batuu! Unlike other Disney areas, they don't stop for photos, but interact with visitors.

4 - R2-D2 footprints on the floor! The Imagineers left droid marks on the floor, as if he had already passed through there.

5 - The area has Hidden Mickeys, mainly in metal structures and Millennium Falcon.

6 - The sounds of Batuu are authentic and were captured from the original saga films.

7 - Rise of the Resistance is one of Disney's most complex attractions, with various scenes and special effects that change depending on your experience.

8 - Blue Milk and Green Milk drinks are vegan! That is, they are made with a base of rice and coconut milk.

9 - The area has more than 120,000 combinations of light sabers possible at Savi’s Workshop.

11 - Among the old-looking towers of the area, the highest is almost 40 meters high.

13 - The chess game played on the table, in the main basement and lounge of Millennium Falcon, is called Dejarik and visitors can sit at the table inside the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and also acquire the same game at the Toydarian Toymaker market stall.

14 - For the soundtrack within the Oga’s Cantina, Walt Disney Imagineering has hired musicians and composers from all over the world to create original songs for a galactic playlist for the attractions.
