Disney has announced that the main lobby of the resort will be reformed. The works start in April and mark the last stage of the complete revitalization of the hotel. In recent years, the resort has received modern rooms, new dining experiences, as well as improvements in infrastructure.
Disney's Grand Floridian: Tradition with a modern touch
Since 1988, the Grand Floridian is a symbol of Victorian elegance. It combines the luxury of the golden age of seaside resorts with the famous Disney service.
According to Disney Imagineers, the transformation will respect the history of the site. Thus, the new proposal will bring a palette of lighter and more airy colors. It will also include botanical details and floral ornamentations inspired by the late 19th century. The goal is therefore to balance the grandeur of the past with a more current and welcoming style.
A new bar in the heart of the lobby
One of the highlights of the renovation will be the new bar. It will be built in the center of the lobby and will have as inspiration the iconic decorative cage already present at the site. In addition, the new space will pay tribute to the Victorian roots of the resort.
The bar will feature not only artistic stained glass, but also brass finishes, carved wood and murals with colorful birds. All of this will create a sophisticated and engaging environment. It will be the ideal place to relax to the sound of the piano and under the glittering chandeliers of the atrium.
Changes with preserved essence
Even with so much news, the Grand Floridian will retain its essence. The classic staircase, marble floors, cage style elevator and floral aroma will continue on site. However, you will gain new details that reinforce the visual and sensory identity of the resort.
Disney's Grand Floridian: Step reform and without closing
The lobby will be reformed in stages. So the resort will continue to function normally. The forecast is that the works will last until the end of 2025. In the end, the Grand Floridian must be further consolidated as one of the most luxurious hotels at Walt Disney World Resort.
